More Information

The dates used to chart out the positions of the lunar phases within this graphic are obtained from the Circular published by the Nautical Almanac Office at the United States naval Observatory for the years 2000 - 2049. This yearly depiction of the lunar phases is artfully created by observing the waxing and waning cycles of the moon for each day of the year.  The primary phases are accurate, based on Universal Time.

The mechanical drawing for the original print was made by hand in pen and ink by Katheren Belle. Katheren is a native of New England, from NH.  She is a full time artist and entrepreneur, operating The Original Lunar Phase LLC from home and warehouse.

eco-friendly since 1990

The artwork for this print was created in 1988 for the first printing in 1989.  Making these posters by hand back then gave direct insight into just how toxic printing inks can be to the environment. In 1990, we began printing on 100% recycled paper with soy-based inks.
